Kristine Smith writes tense, politically charged mysteries about a former captain, linguist and document examiner. Suffering from effects of Augmentation--a common combat enhancment, and an overdose of the alien Idomeni culture and genetic material, Jani is a superb auditor, whose skills in finding and interpreting evidence are often overshadowed in the murk of the plots surrounding her fiends, allies, enemies and lovers; sets not always mutually exclusive.
