Another light-weight, but generally enjoyable spy adventure, with improbable coincidences, flat villains, and amusing heroes.

Genre: Mystery (Cloak and Dagger)

Synopsis: An unlikely part-time spy, the long-retired Mrs. Pollifax spends most of her time raising prize-winning geraniums, being very happily married to a retired judge, and participating in the local clubs. However, she cannot shake the creeping feeling of boredome.

When her old friend calls from the CIA, Emily Pollifax is quite happy to entertain a trip to the Middle East—this time as a concerned aunt of a missing American teenager. The search for the missing girl will bring Mrs. Pollifax to old allies—and new enemies.

Full Review: As always with this series, one has to suspend disbelief as the aged but unaging Mrs. Pollifax takes on the villains of the world. Rather superficial in its treatment of undercover work and political motivations, the novel is, nevertheless, mostly up to date.

With plucky heroes, evil villains, and dangerous but fast-passing adventures, this makes a suitable continuation to the pleasant but superficial and repetetive series.

Overall: 5.5; Plot: 5; Characters: 6; Style: 5; World-building: 5.5; Originality: 5.5;
